| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Arthur "Art" Albores of Oak Park, who |
| 4 | | passed away on October 12, 2024 at the age of 94; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Art Albores was the third youngest of seven |
| 6 | | children born to Jacob Albores and Victoria Albores in Chicago |
| 7 | | on March 1, 1930; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Art Albores graduated from North Central College |
| 9 | | with a Bachelor of Science in 1956; he taught grammar in |
| 10 | | Chicago and the surrounding suburbs before joining the Peace |
| 11 | | Corps in 1965, where he spent two years establishing YMCAs in |
| 12 | | Venezuela; he later earned a Master of Education from |
| 13 | | Middlebury College in 1968; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Art Albores dedicated his 40-year career to |
| 15 | | education, working for decades as a Spanish teacher at Oak |
| 16 | | Park and River Forest High School and at Northern Illinois |
| 17 | | University; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Art Albores met his wife of 53 years, Carole |
| 19 | | Bock, at a party in 1971, and he married her just five months |
| 20 | | later; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Art Albores was a devoted family man, known for |
| 2 | | his wisdom, love, silly jokes, and unique life lessons that |
| 3 | | inspired his three sons and later his grandchildren; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Art Albores remained active throughout his life, |
| 5 | | visiting the Loyola Center for Fitness three times a week |
| 6 | | until shortly before his passing; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Art Albores was an active member of St. Giles |
| 8 | | Catholic Parish in Oak Park and embodied the importance of |
| 9 | | community service through his volunteer work, which included |
| 10 | | taking his family to volunteer at a soup kitchen on Christmas |
| 11 | | mornings; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Art Albores is survived by his wife, Carole; his |
| 13 | | sister, Helen; his three sons, Geoffrey, Peter, and Tim; his |
| 14 | | daughters-in-law, Chris and Sandy; and five grandchildren, |
| 15 | | Maya, Emilie, Maddy, Oliver, and Charlie; therefore, be it |
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 18 | | Arthur "Art" Albores and extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 19 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 20 | | further |
| 21 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
