| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Peickert, who passed |
| 4 | | away on March 5, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robert Peickert, the son of Charles and Alvera |
| 6 | | Peickert, was born in Chicago on December 5, 1944; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Robert Peickert worked as a math teacher and a |
| 8 | | union official with the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT), |
| 9 | | utilizing his pugnacity in contract negotiations; after the |
| 10 | | fall of the Berlin Wall, he was sent as a union representative |
| 11 | | to Poland, where he helped establish U.S.-style trade unions |
| 12 | | for the teachers there; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Robert Peickert was the former chair of the |
| 14 | | Democratic Party of DuPage County (DPDC) from 2008 through the |
| 15 | | 2018 elections; during his tenure, he was noted for his |
| 16 | | dedication, leading the organization with heart and vision and |
| 17 | | serving as an ally and mentor to many; he spearheaded |
| 18 | | Operation: Turn DuPage Blue and dramatically increased the |
| 19 | | ranks of elected precinct committeepersons across the county; |
| 20 | | his guidance helped elect three Democrats to the DuPage County |
| 21 | | Board in 2008 and seven in 2018; he also oversaw a number of |
| 22 | | successful fundraisers and gala events; after stepping down in |
