SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Peickert, who passed
4away on March 5, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Peickert, the son of Charles and Alvera
6Peickert, was born in Chicago on December 5, 1944; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Robert Peickert worked as a math teacher and a
8union official with the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT),
9utilizing his pugnacity in contract negotiations; after the
10fall of the Berlin Wall, he was sent as a union representative
11to Poland, where he helped establish U.S.-style trade unions
12for the teachers there; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert Peickert was the former chair of the
14Democratic Party of DuPage County (DPDC) from 2008 through the
152018 elections; during his tenure, he was noted for his
16dedication, leading the organization with heart and vision and
17serving as an ally and mentor to many; he spearheaded
18Operation: Turn DuPage Blue and dramatically increased the
19ranks of elected precinct committeepersons across the county;
20his guidance helped elect three Democrats to the DuPage County
21Board in 2008 and seven in 2018; he also oversaw a number of
22successful fundraisers and gala events; after stepping down in

1early 2019, he continued to be involved as a precinct
2committeeperson in York and as a member of the DPDC Executive
3Committee; he was also the former vice president of the
4Illinois Democratic County Chairs' Association (IDCCA); and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Peickert was known for his confidence,
6perseverance, and generosity; he was a passionate leader who
7made a lasting impact on DuPage County; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Peickert was the husband of the late
9Patricia L. Peickert (Tribbensee); the father of Robert J.
10Peickert, Sue (Paul) Phillips, and Judy (Frank) Porch; the
11grandfather of five; the great-grandfather of three; and the
12brother of the late James Peickert and Alexis Castellano;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Robert A. "Bob" Peickert and extend our sincere condolences to
17his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Robert Peickert as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
