SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Tomislav "Tom" Ilich of Lisle, who
4passed away on January 1, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Ilich was born on September 6, 1960 and grew
6up in Brookfield, where he attended Riverside-Brookfield High
7School and maintained a lifelong devotion to the Bulldogs; he
8met his future bride, Mary McGovern, at Waldo Peepers in
9Stickney in 1986; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tom Ilich had a long career with Jewel and then
11owned and operated McGil Services for the past 15 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Tom Ilich had lifetime love of sports; when he
13was a child, he was part of the Brookfield Little League team
14that won the prestigious Roy A. Overholt Boys Little League
15Tournament; he was a loyal fan of the Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears,
16Notre Dame, Ohio State, University of Dayton, Marquette
17University, and Montini Bronco; in his 20s, he recruited a
18softball team, the Hi Flyers, leading them to numerous
19victories; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Tom Ilich loved live music and supported many of
21the local suburban bands; he enjoyed listening to REO

1Speedwagon, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, and others but was a
2loyal member of the Parrotheads, traveling all across the
3country to see Jimmy Buffet in concert a total of 36 times; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Tom Ilich loved traveling with Mary and his
5family to Key West, Clearwater, Marco Island, and Abbey
6Springs in Lake Geneva, where he could enjoy water, music, and
7beverages; he often shared memories about visiting his
8family's homeland, Serbia, and then traveling to Sarajevo for
9the 1984 Winter Olympics; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tom Ilich was the beloved husband of Mary
11(McGovern); the loving father of Robert (Cathleen Reibel),
12Kathleen (Alex) Falconio, Patricia, and Thomas; the cherished
13grandfather "G" of Paisley Mae; the devoted son of Dusanka and
14the late Bora Ilich; the dearest brother of Nada (Mark)
15Bobrowski; the dear brother-in-law of several; and the fond
16uncle and cousin to many; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Tomislav "Tom" Ilich and extend our sincere condolences to his
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
21further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
