| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 |     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to  | ||||||
| 3 | recognize Officer Anthony J. Rouba for his service in the U.S.  | ||||||
| 4 | Marine Corps and as a Chicago police officer; and | ||||||
| 5 |     WHEREAS, Officer Rouba was born in Chicago on January 27,  | ||||||
| 6 | 1967; after growing up in the city, he graduated from high  | ||||||
| 7 | school, married his wife, Debra, and welcomed his children,  | ||||||
| 8 | Stephanie, Anthony Jr., and Matthew; and | ||||||
| 9 |     WHEREAS, Officer Rouba joined the U.S. Marine Corps,  | ||||||
| 10 | trained in San Diego, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton,  | ||||||
| 11 | California; he served with the 1st Marine Division, 3rd  | ||||||
| 12 | Amphibious Assault Battalion, Charlie Company; he was deployed  | ||||||
| 13 | overseas on naval vessels, including during Desert  | ||||||
| 14 | Shield/Desert Storm in August 1990, extending his service by  | ||||||
| 15 | one month; and | ||||||
| 16 |     WHEREAS, Throughout Officer Rouba's career with the Marine  | ||||||
| 17 | Corps, he received multiple awards and was meritoriously  | ||||||
| 18 | promoted twice; and | ||||||
| 19 |     WHEREAS, After being honorably discharged, Officer Rouba  | ||||||
| 20 | began training at the Chicago Police Academy in September  | ||||||
| 21 | 2002, where he became a squad leader and then a Chicago police  | ||||||

| 1 | officer; he joined the Gang Enforcement Unit and sustained  | ||||||
| 2 | several injuries while apprehending dangerous offenders; and | ||||||
| 3 |     WHEREAS, Officer Rouba was stationed at Cermak and  | ||||||
| 4 | Michigan in Chicago during the 2012 NATO Summit when he was  | ||||||
| 5 | injured in the line of duty as assailants were attempting to  | ||||||
| 6 | breach a police perimeter; after recovering, he returned to  | ||||||
| 7 | service at the Art Institute of Chicago for a short time; and | ||||||
| 8 |     WHEREAS, Officer Rouba is currently assigned to the 12th  | ||||||
| 9 | District Patrol Division of the Chicago Police Department with  | ||||||
| 10 | star number 15409; and | ||||||
| 11 |     WHEREAS, Officer Rouba has been a great public servant to  | ||||||
| 12 | the community he serves; he enjoys time with his family and his  | ||||||
| 13 | friends and serving our most vulnerable, and he goes above and  | ||||||
| 14 | beyond for his fellow veterans and community members; he is a  | ||||||
| 15 | proud loving husband and devoted father; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 16 |     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL  | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the  | ||||||
| 18 | exemplary service of Officer Anthony J. Rouba, especially for  | ||||||
| 19 | his experience in the line of duty during the 2012 NATO Summit;  | ||||||
| 20 | and be it further | ||||||
| 21 |     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be  | ||||||
