SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3recognize Officer Anthony J. Rouba for his service in the U.S.
4Marine Corps and as a Chicago police officer; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Officer Rouba was born in Chicago on January 27,
61967; after growing up in the city, he graduated from high
7school, married his wife, Debra, and welcomed his children,
8Stephanie, Anthony Jr., and Matthew; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Officer Rouba joined the U.S. Marine Corps,
10trained in San Diego, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton,
11California; he served with the 1st Marine Division, 3rd
12Amphibious Assault Battalion, Charlie Company; he was deployed
13overseas on naval vessels, including during Desert
14Shield/Desert Storm in August 1990, extending his service by
15one month; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Throughout Officer Rouba's career with the Marine
17Corps, he received multiple awards and was meritoriously
18promoted twice; and
 
19    WHEREAS, After being honorably discharged, Officer Rouba
20began training at the Chicago Police Academy in September
212002, where he became a squad leader and then a Chicago police

1officer; he joined the Gang Enforcement Unit and sustained
2several injuries while apprehending dangerous offenders; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Officer Rouba was stationed at Cermak and
4Michigan in Chicago during the 2012 NATO Summit when he was
5injured in the line of duty as assailants were attempting to
6breach a police perimeter; after recovering, he returned to
7service at the Art Institute of Chicago for a short time; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Officer Rouba is currently assigned to the 12th
9District Patrol Division of the Chicago Police Department with
10star number 15409; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Officer Rouba has been a great public servant to
12the community he serves; he enjoys time with his family and his
13friends and serving our most vulnerable, and he goes above and
14beyond for his fellow veterans and community members; he is a
15proud loving husband and devoted father; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the
18exemplary service of Officer Anthony J. Rouba, especially for
19his experience in the line of duty during the 2012 NATO Summit;
20and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
