SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Chief Robert McKay of Tinley Park, who
4passed away on February 22, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chief McKay was born in Chicago to Robert and
6Marion McKay on July 1, 1965; he graduated from Oak Forest
7Christian Academy in 1983 and earned his bachelor's degree in
8finance from Liberty University in 1987; he married Tammy Jesk
9in Chicago on February 15, 2003; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Chief McKay dedicated his life of service to the
11North Maine Fire Protection District; he started his career
12with the department in May of 1995; he served as lieutenant
13from 2010 to 2013 and district chief from 2013 to 2017 and was
14appointed fire chief in 2017; he celebrated 30 years with the
15department on January 16, 2025; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Chief McKay enjoyed wood working, building
17things, old cars, biking, and walking with Tammy; he also
18enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; he
19especially enjoyed being with his son and his four-legged
20friend, Kodak Jack; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Chief McKay was preceded in death by his parents;

1his stepmother, Carol; and his stepsister, Cathy; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Chief McKay is survived by his wife, Tammy; his
3son, Brooklin; his stepdaughter, Samantha; his sister, Bonnie
4(James); his stepsister, Cheri; and many other family members
5and friends; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Chief Robert McKay and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Chief McKay as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
