SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3recognize the Eta Alpha Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority,
4Inc. on being chartered as a newly established chapter; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., founded by
6visionary Mrs. Dr. Mary H. Bradford in Chicago in 1929, is a
7premier African American women's organization committed to
8improving the social, political, and economic welfare of
9African American women and their communities through
10innovative programs in areas of educational advancement,
11professional development, and service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., since its
13inception, has been dedicated to promoting education,
14leadership, and service, particularly within the African
15American community, and the sorority's mission is to provide
16opportunities for professional development, cultural
17enrichment, and community service, while inspiring and
18empowering women of all ages to live their lives with purpose,
19passion, and integrity; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The Eta Alpha Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda
21Sorority, Inc. was chartered in Fairview Heights on June 15,

1    WHEREAS, The Eta Alpha Chapter was founded under the
2leadership of President Deletra Hudson and 23 distinguished
3individuals, Lisa Acogny, Monique C. McKinney, Jacqueline
4Ploudre, Angela Bailey, Rhonda Moore, Chelsea Robinson, Amanda
5Brinson, Sylvia Morris, Deborah Sanlin, Tawny Brown, Utica
6Morris, Mildred Stewart Simmons, Annette Cannaway-Hudson,
7Frieda Morris-Williams, Erika Swaringen-Blankumsee, Sherri
8Gaskin, Elizabeth Morrow, Ophelia Phillips, Leslie Tolliver,
9Esq., Jamie Walker-Sallis, Jordan Hudson, Jacqueline Ploudre,
10and Toi Williams; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Eta Alpha Chapter remains committed to Iota
12Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.'s mission; through leadership,
13scholarship, and commitment to excellence, the chapter seeks
14to empower women to take charge of their destiny and achieve
15greatness; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Eta
18Alpha Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. on being
19chartered as a newly established chapter, and we commend its
20founding members for their efforts; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the Eta Alpha Chapter as an expression of our
