SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John H. "Jack" Long of Springfield,
4who passed away on March 9, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Long was born in Jacksonville to Walter
6Myron and Kathleen Vortman Long on September 29, 1939; he
7served in the U.S. Army; he married Rosemarie Feleccia on
8August 10, 1963; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack Long was a bricklayer and worked for
10Pillsbury; he retired from the State of Illinois as a
11stationary engineer; he also served as the assessor for
12Springfield Township from 1993 to 2009; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jack Long's passion was spending time playing
14golf with his friends and family; he was also an avid sports
15fan, and his favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and
16the St. Louis Rams; he was also a University of Illinois fan
17and enjoyed watching games with his family and friends; he was
18a coach for the Dale Teubner Memorial Little League and 5th and
196th grade basketball at St. Cabrini; he also was a major
20supporter of Williamsville girls softball and loved watching
21his two youngest granddaughters pitch; and

1    WHEREAS, Jack Long was preceded in death by his wife,
2Rosemarie; his parents; and his sister, Connie Esslinger; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jack Long is survived by his sons, Brad (Laura)
4and Brian (Lori) Long; his grandchildren, Valerie Scheina,
5Anthony Long, Feleshia (Cole) Childress, Hayley Long (Jesse De
6Castro), and Payton Long; his great-grandchildren, Cassidy
7Scheina, Bella Scheina, Bryleigh Rose Scheina, Walter
8Childress, and an additional great-grandchild due in June; his
9brother, Larry Long; his sisters-in-law, Mary Choate and Betty
10(Thomas) Blasko; his brother-in-law, Thomas (Toni) Feleccia;
11and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14John H. "Jack" Long and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Jack Long as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
