SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Stephen A. "Steve" Pellegrini of
4Springfield, who passed away on March 6, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini, the son of Angelo J. and
6Albertine P. (Maton) Pellegrini, was born in Taylorville on
7August 31, 1950; he graduated from Stephen Decatur High
8School; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1968
9to 1972; during his service, he also provided security detail
10in coordination with the Secret Service to protect President
11Richard Nixon; he received his bachelor's degree in political
12science from Eastern Illinois University; he married Beth Ann
13Flener on August 12, 2014; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini worked as a detective with the
15Springfield Police Department for 30 years, retiring in 2010;
16during his law enforcement career, he also served under
17special assignments for the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA); and
 
18    WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini was a member of the Police
19Benevolent & Protective Association of Illinois for many
20years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini was an avid fan of the Chicago

1Cubs and the Green Bay Packers; he and his wife enjoyed
2experiencing the outdoors by sitting on their front porch with
3neighbors, traveling in their RV, and wintering in Arizona;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini was preceded in death by his
6parents; his parents-in-laws, Charles and Barbara Flener; and
7his best friend and four-legged companion, Winston; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini is survived by his wife of ten
9years, Beth; his sons, Zack V. Pellegrini and Dalton (fiance,
10Mahalia Davis) Ross; his siblings, Lynne (Ray) Padovan and
11Greg (Deb) Pellegrini; his sister-in-law, Debi (Tim) Marker;
12and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Stephen A. "Steve" Pellegrini and extend our sincere
16condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Steve Pellegrini as an expression
20of our deepest sympathy.
