SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Patricia Ann "Patty" Stremsterfer of
4Pleasant Plains, who passed away on February 23, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer was born in Springfield to
6Harry and Ruth (Fetzer) Hartmann on January 23, 1932; she
7graduated as valedictorian from Pleasant Plains High School in
81950; she married Harold Stremsterfer in Pleasant Plains on
9December 2, 1951; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer worked for Franklin Life
11Insurance until her marriage; her part-time and seasonal
12employments included her parents's business, Hartmann's
13Grocery Store, So-Fro Fabrics, and Richland Elevator, but her
14full-time job was being a farmer's wife; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer's community involvement was
16her passion; she volunteered for over 40 years at Memorial
17Medical Center, first with the gift cart and later as the
18cardiac waiting room receptionist; twice a month she gave
19manicures at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia and enjoyed
20the company of the residents; she shared her sewing knowledge
21by teaching children at the local library; she also served as
22an election judge; and

1    WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer was awarded the 2017
2Distinguished Volunteer Award and the 2018 Good as Gold Award
3for her work with Memorial Hospital's volunteer program and
4was honored as the parade marshal for the Pleasant Plains High
5School Homecoming in 2017; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer was a member of the Peter
7Cartwright United Methodist Church for 70 years until she
8began attending Richland Creek Baptist Church in rural
9Pleasant Plains; she was a member of the Pleasant Plains
10Community Club for more than 40 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer treasured her abundance of
12friends; she enjoyed sewing, handiwork, baking, bowling, golf,
13and traveling; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer was preceded in death by her
15husband, Harold; her parents; her youngest child, June, and
16her husband, Pat McDonough; and her sister, Mary Kay Schmidt;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer is survived by her daughter,
19Ann (Greg) Reiterman and their children, Ken Reiterman,
20Jennifer (Kevin) Knoop, and Katrina, Shane, and Justin
21Reiterman; her son, Norman (Michele) Stremsterfer and their

1children, Lee (Stacy) Stremsterfer, Lindi (Scott) Kocher,
2Travis (Mary) Stremsterfer, Bridget Stremsterfer, and Wade
3(Elly) Stremsterfer; June's children, Brian (Stephanie) Hays,
4Geoffrey Hays, and Tracy (Matt) Simpkins; Pat's daughter,
5Mandi (Chris) Elder; 14 grandchildren; many
6great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and
7several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Patricia Ann "Patty" Stremsterfer and extend our sincere
11condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12her; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Patty Stremsterfer as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
