SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Sharon Rose Anne (Smith) Johnson of
4Springfield, who passed away on February 8, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sharon Johnson was born to William H. and Betty
6Rose (Davis) Smith in Springfield on November 14, 1948; she
7graduated from Springfield High School in 1967 and attended
8Lincoln Land Community College; she married Van Johnson on
9January 3, 1998; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Sharon Johnson worked as a financial supervisor
11at First National Bank for more than 30 years, followed by 12
12years of service at Springfield Public Schools District 186;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Sharon Johnson loved going to the movies and
15celebrating Christmas; she enjoyed playing and watching
16sporting events, often traveling to attend St. Louis Cardinals
17games; she received her greatest happiness by being with her
18family, and she enjoyed spending every possible moment she
19could with them; she and her husband always tried to attend
20every event involving their grandchildren or other family
21members; and

1    WHEREAS, Sharon Johnson was a sweet, compassionate, and
2kind person with a huge heart; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Sharon Johnson was preceded in death by her
4parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sharon Johnson is survived by her husband of 27
6years, Van; her daughter, Carla (Dan) Fitzgerald; four
7grandchildren; one great-grandson; her brother, Hal (Meg)
8Smith; her stepdaughters, Gina (Jim) House and Melissa (Pat)
9Murphy; five step-grandchildren; her niece and nephew,
10Elizabeth (Nicholas) Lucin and David (Becky) Reid; one
11great-niece; and her chosen brother, Richard Garcia;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Sharon Rose Anne (Smith) Johnson and extend our sincere
16condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17her; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Sharon Johnson as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
