SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Patricia Jean "Pat" (McFarlane)
4Harris, who passed away on February 19, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pat Harris was born to James and Mona McFarlane
6in Cleveland, Ohio on July 3, 1933; the second oldest of nine,
7she learned patience and diplomacy at an early age; she
8married Warren Arthur Harris in 1961, which was the start of a
954 year partnership full of love and laughter, and they raised
10five strong and spirited daughters, who were all born between
111962 and 1968; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Pat Harris was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt,
13wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who
14was also a devoted member of her Universalist Unitarian Church
15family; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Pat Harris was gifted at bringing people
17together, offering wisdom, whether solicited or not, and
18making sure no one left a conversation without a smile; she
19touched countless lives; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Pat Harris was devoted to her family, and she
21treasured every moment she spent with them, whether

1celebrating milestones or simply enjoying each other's
2company; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Pat Harris was preceded in death by her husband;
4her parents; six siblings; four nephews; and her son-in-law,
5Matthew Allen; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Pat Harris is survived by her daughters, Margaret
7(Bill) Schmider, Kathleen (Tom) Hafele, Joan (Shannon) Walden,
8Elizabeth (Matthew) Allen, and Michelle (Troy) Adams; 12
9grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her youngest sister and
10brother, Elaine (Spanky) McFarlane and Michael (Sheila)
11McFarlane; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Patricia Jean "Pat" (McFarlane) Harris and extend our sincere
15condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Pat Harris as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
