SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Steven D. Richardson of Jacksonville,
4who passed away on February 9, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Steven Richardson, the son of Donald and Mildred
6(Middleton) Richardson, was born in Jacksonville on August 8,
71945; he graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1963; he
8attended the University of Illinois before being drafted into
9the U.S. Army in 1965, where he served in the 9th Infantry
10Division and the Mobile Riverine Force in Vietnam, was an
11expert marksman with an M14 rifle, and received the National
12Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam
13Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal; he later
14married Diane (Pride) Waldon in 1988, and she preceded him in
15death in 2023; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Steven Richardson, after returning home in 1967,
17worked with his father, Donald, and his brother, Charles, on
18the family farm located west of Jacksonville; he was a
19lifelong farmer until his health prevented him from
20continuing; during his career, he was proud to have bred and
21raised Shorthorn cattle; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Steven Richardson was a member of the Elks Lodge

1in Jacksonville, served on many agriculture-related boards and
2committees, and attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist
3Church; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Steven Richardson was a St. Louis Cardinals and
5Illini fan; he loved spending time with his family, and he was
6an incredibly proud grandfather who loved attending his
7grandchildren's sporting events; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Steven Richardson was preceded in death by his
9parents; his wife; brother in infancy, Dale Richardson; and
10his sister, Martha Kleinschmidt; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Steven Richardson is survived by his children,
12Rachelle (Pat) Morrisey, Travis (Lisa Hannant) Richardson, and
13Elizabeth (Scott Moshage) Richardson; his stepson, Nathan
14(Jill Bruington) Waldon; six grandchildren; his siblings,
15Carol (Larry) Ferguson and Charles (Darlene) Richardson; and
16several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Steven D. Richardson and extend our sincere condolences to his
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
