| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Steven D. Richardson of Jacksonville, | ||||||
| 4 | who passed away on February 9, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Steven Richardson, the son of Donald and Mildred | ||||||
| 6 | (Middleton) Richardson, was born in Jacksonville on August 8, | ||||||
| 7 | 1945; he graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1963; he | ||||||
| 8 | attended the University of Illinois before being drafted into | ||||||
| 9 | the U.S. Army in 1965, where he served in the 9th Infantry | ||||||
| 10 | Division and the Mobile Riverine Force in Vietnam, was an | ||||||
| 11 | expert marksman with an M14 rifle, and received the National | ||||||
| 12 | Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam | ||||||
| 13 | Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal; he later | ||||||
| 14 | married Diane (Pride) Waldon in 1988, and she preceded him in | ||||||
| 15 | death in 2023; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Steven Richardson, after returning home in 1967, | ||||||
| 17 | worked with his father, Donald, and his brother, Charles, on | ||||||
| 18 | the family farm located west of Jacksonville; he was a | ||||||
| 19 | lifelong farmer until his health prevented him from | ||||||
| 20 | continuing; during his career, he was proud to have bred and | ||||||
| 21 | raised Shorthorn cattle; and | ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Steven Richardson was a member of the Elks Lodge | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | in Jacksonville, served on many agriculture-related boards and | ||||||
| 2 | committees, and attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist | ||||||
| 3 | Church; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Steven Richardson was a St. Louis Cardinals and | ||||||
| 5 | Illini fan; he loved spending time with his family, and he was | ||||||
| 6 | an incredibly proud grandfather who loved attending his | ||||||
| 7 | grandchildren's sporting events; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Steven Richardson was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 9 | parents; his wife; brother in infancy, Dale Richardson; and | ||||||
| 10 | his sister, Martha Kleinschmidt; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Steven Richardson is survived by his children, | ||||||
| 12 | Rachelle (Pat) Morrisey, Travis (Lisa Hannant) Richardson, and | ||||||
| 13 | Elizabeth (Scott Moshage) Richardson; his stepson, Nathan | ||||||
| 14 | (Jill Bruington) Waldon; six grandchildren; his siblings, | ||||||
| 15 | Carol (Larry) Ferguson and Charles (Darlene) Richardson; and | ||||||
| 16 | several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 19 | Steven D. Richardson and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 20 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 21 | further | ||||||
