SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Grant Withers of Petersburg, who 
4passed away on February 4, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Grant Withers, the son of Richard and Leslie 
6(Bennett), was born in Springfield on July 10, 2009; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Grant Withers was a student-athlete at PORTA High 
8School in Petersburg; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Grant Withers was a member of 4-H and Future 
10Farmers of America (FFA); and
 
11    WHEREAS, Grant Withers loved hunting with his brother, 
12fishing, riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, working, and 
13spending time on the lake with his friends; he also loved 
14playing sports, including football, baseball, and basketball; 
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Grant Withers was preceded in death by his 
17grandfather, George Withers, and his great-grandfathers, 
18Harold McHenry and Merle Bennett; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Grant Withers is survived by his mother, Leslie

1(Robert) Clifton; his siblings, Tucker, Wyatt, Maci Withers, 
2and Lane Clifton; his grandparents, Thomas and Jody Bennett 
3and Mary Withers; his great-grandmother, Carol McHenry; and 
4several aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
7Grant Withers and extend our sincere condolences to his 
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of Grant Withers as an expression of 
12our deepest sympathy.
