SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Charles L. Sexton of Mechanicsburg,
4who passed away on February 1, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Sexton, the son of Homer C. and Eva
6(Skinner) Sexton, was born in Dawson on July 17, 1936; he
7served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed at Forbes
8Air Force Base in Topeka, Kansas with temporary duty
9assignments at Eilson Air Force Base in Alaska and Goose Bay
10Air Force Base in Labrador, and he was discharged with the rank
11of A/1C; he married Dorothy I. Smith at the Mechanicsburg
12Christian Church in Mechanicsburg on November 24, 1961; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Charles Sexton worked for the Office of the
14Secretary of the State of Illinois, retiring on December 31,
151997; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Charles Sexton was a member of Carlock Lodge #904
17A.F and A.M of Mechanicsburg, and he served on the Board of
18Trustees for the Village of Mechanicsburg; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Charles Sexton was preceded in death by his wife,
20Dorothy; his parents; his brothers, Forrest W. "Mike" Sexton
21and Homer C. Sexton, Jr.; and his sisters, V. Lorraine Sexton

1and A. Jean Colin; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Charles Sexton is survived by his children, Glen
3(Sally) Sexton and Gitana (Todd) Fishburn; five grandchildren;
4three great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way;
5his brother-in-law, Darrell (Delores) Smith; and many nieces
6and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Charles L. Sexton and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Charles Sexton as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
