SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas Foster "Tom" Londrigan of Springfield, who passed away on January 28, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan, the son of Joseph A. and Loretta (Foster) Londrigan, was born in Springfield on May 10, 1937; he attended Hazel Dell Elementary School, Little Flower School, and Cathedral Boys High School, where he was an All-City football player; he graduated from the University of Notre Dame, where he was chosen as the first captain of the university's inaugural varsity swim team, and he received his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois; he served in the U.S. Air National Guard on kitchen duty and later in the Judge Advocate General's Office; he also served in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1962 to 1980, rising to the rank of commander; he married Carol Ann Fish at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on August 31, 1963; and

WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan first worked as an Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice under Robert F. Kennedy; he later worked at his father's firm of Londrigan and Londrigan before creating his own firm, Londrigan and Potter, later known as Londrigan, Potter & Randle, P.C.; during his career, he served as president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and won a landmark verdict for families in Taylorville who were exposed to environmental carcinogens; and

WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Jude in Rochester and the Church of the Little Flower in Springfield; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the YMCA, Lincoln Memorial Gardens, the International Star Class Yacht Racing Association, and the Island Bay Yacht Club; and

WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan enjoyed sailing, fishing, skiing, and flying; he won the Great Lakes Championship in the Star Class and the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; he took great pride in his children's achievements and loved creating special memories for his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; his son, Patrick Joseph Londrigan; and his brother, Michael Londrigan; and

WHEREAS, Tom Londrigan is survived by his children, Joseph P. (Amanda) Londrigan, Thomas (Betsy) Londrigan Jr., and Genevieve Turner; nine grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Thomas Foster "Tom" Londrigan and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tom Londrigan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
