| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Thomas M. "Tom" Yucuis of East Dundee, |
| 4 | | who passed away on February 24, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis was born in Chicago to Charles P. and |
| 6 | | Carol J. (Sommer) Yucuis on December 6, 1955; he was raised in |
| 7 | | Sleepy Hollow and graduated from Dundee Community High School |
| 8 | | in Carpentersville in 1973; he married Jill A. Rakow on May 1, |
| 9 | | 1976; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis was a butcher and meat cutter for 50 |
| 11 | | years; he owned and operated Butcher On The Block Meat and Deli |
| 12 | | in Lake in the Hills with his wife; his vision was to create a |
| 13 | | small family business where he could share his expertise and |
| 14 | | passion for great food, and over the course of his 25 years in |
| 15 | | business, his daughters and many grandchildren have worked at |
| 16 | | Butcher on the Block, sharing in his dream; he loved |
| 17 | | interacting with his loyal customers who supported the |
| 18 | | business and made it the success that it is today; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis was a longtime faithful member of |
| 20 | | Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee; he was an |
| 21 | | avid golfer and a fan of the White Sox, Chicago Bears, and |
| 22 | | Chicago Blackhawks; he could easily be found frequenting East |

| 1 | | Dundee businesses, enjoying Wine Down Wednesdays, Thirsty |
| 2 | | Thursdays, or just a nice walk downtown; he loved his |
| 3 | | grandchildren, supporting them at their sporting events and |
| 4 | | through other life events; he loved to travel and spent |
| 5 | | vacations with his beloved wife and family; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 7 | | his daughter, Emily; his brother, Raymond Yucuis; his sister, |
| 8 | | Shari Anatra; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and |
| 9 | | Barbara Rakow; and his brothers-in-law, Lane Rakow and Bruce |
| 10 | | Kling; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Tom Yucuis survived by his wife of 50 years, |
| 12 | | Jill; his daughters, Dana Yucuis, Katie (Vince) Neil, and |
| 13 | | Brynn (Brian) Zimmerman; his grandchildren, Preston (Jillian), |
| 14 | | Shea, Dominik, Kendall, Anya, Brady, Spencer, Cameron, Macy, |
| 15 | | and Maddox; his siblings, Lynne Kling, James (Ann), Jack |
| 16 | | (Jacquie), Rob (Chris) Yucuis, and Nancy (Brad) Dehmlow; his |
| 17 | | Rakows-in-law, Kristi (Dennis) DeSantis, Mark (Debra) Rakow, |
| 18 | | Lantz (Marianne) Rakow, and Susan Rakow; many nieces, nephews, |
| 19 | | grandnieces, and grandnephews; and countless good and faithful |
| 20 | | friends; therefore, be it |
| 21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 22 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 23 | | Thomas M. "Tom" Yucuis of East Dundee and extend our sincere |
