SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to congratulate Tamara Peterson on the occasion of her retirement as a board member of the Bloomingdale School District 13 Board of Education; and

WHEREAS, Tamara Peterson has served on the Bloomingdale School District 13 Board since April 1, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Tamara Peterson has engaged in strategic planning to identify district priorities, giving rise to a high number of student achievements that were recognized locally and nationally; and

WHEREAS, Tamara Peterson has spearheaded changes in financial practices, leading the Bloomingdale School District 13 Board to earn Certificates of Achievement (COAs) for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the past seven years; and

WHEREAS, Tamara Peterson has further served the Bloomingdale School District 13 Board by readily accepting additional leadership roles during her tenure, including holding the position of board president for two terms; and

WHEREAS, Tamara Peterson, for the duration of her term, has also supported the Bloomingdale CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to actively build and nurture trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship throughout the community; and

WHEREAS, Tamara Peterson will conclude her service to the Bloomingdale School District 13 Board on May 1, 2025; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Tamara Peterson on her retirement as a board member of the Bloomingdale School District 13 Board of Education, and we thank her for her service to the community and its students; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Tamara Peterson as an expression of our esteem and respect.
