SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Harold Edwin King Sr. of Peoria, who
4passed away on February 11, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold King was born to Harold William and Elva
6(Abell) King in East St. Louis on February 24, 1929; he
7attended Peoria High School; he graduated from Bradley
8University in 1950, where he was a member of the swim team and
9Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity; he married Ann Frauenthal in St.
10Louis in 1950; he served in the Korean War; he later graduated
11from the Indiana University Savings & Loan Institute; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Harold King started his financial career in
13Alton; he returned to Peoria to become president of Provident
14Federal Savings and Loan in 1965; he also served as a board
15member of the Illinois League of Savings and Loans and as an
16adviser at the Indiana University Savings & Loan Institute;
17after retirement, he enjoyed a second career as CEO of East
18Bluff Neighborhood Housing Services; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Harold King was an active member of the Peoria
20Area Chamber of Commerce, a past president of the Downtown
21Rotary in Peoria, and president of Mt. Hawley Country Club,
22where he and Ann played tennis and golf; after they moved to

1Bonita Springs, Florida, he was an active board member and
2resident of Hunter's Ridge Country Club, serving as the
3longtime treasurer of its Home Owners' Association; he also
4helped establish a scholarship program for businesses at
5Bradley University; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Harold King enjoyed playing tennis and golfing,
7hitting two holes-in-one in his lifetime, one at each of the
8country clubs he belonged to, and he was an enthusiastic
9Bradley University basketball season ticket holder; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Harold King possessed a quiet strength and lived
11his life with inspiring optimism; he will be remembered for
12his kindness, wit, and swift ability to tell a clever joke; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Harold King was preceded in death by his wife of
1467 years, Ann, and his brother, Frank King; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Harold King is survived by his children, Carol
16(Doug) and Corky (Julie); four grandchildren; five
17great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and his good friend,
18Mary Lou Breaden; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Harold Edwin King Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to
