| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Harold Edwin King Sr. of Peoria, who |
| 4 | | passed away on February 11, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harold King was born to Harold William and Elva |
| 6 | | (Abell) King in East St. Louis on February 24, 1929; he |
| 7 | | attended Peoria High School; he graduated from Bradley |
| 8 | | University in 1950, where he was a member of the swim team and |
| 9 | | Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity; he married Ann Frauenthal in St. |
| 10 | | Louis in 1950; he served in the Korean War; he later graduated |
| 11 | | from the Indiana University Savings & Loan Institute; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Harold King started his financial career in |
| 13 | | Alton; he returned to Peoria to become president of Provident |
| 14 | | Federal Savings and Loan in 1965; he also served as a board |
| 15 | | member of the Illinois League of Savings and Loans and as an |
| 16 | | adviser at the Indiana University Savings & Loan Institute; |
| 17 | | after retirement, he enjoyed a second career as CEO of East |
| 18 | | Bluff Neighborhood Housing Services; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Harold King was an active member of the Peoria |
| 20 | | Area Chamber of Commerce, a past president of the Downtown |
| 21 | | Rotary in Peoria, and president of Mt. Hawley Country Club, |
| 22 | | where he and Ann played tennis and golf; after they moved to |

| 1 | | Bonita Springs, Florida, he was an active board member and |
| 2 | | resident of Hunter's Ridge Country Club, serving as the |
| 3 | | longtime treasurer of its Home Owners' Association; he also |
| 4 | | helped establish a scholarship program for businesses at |
| 5 | | Bradley University; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Harold King enjoyed playing tennis and golfing, |
| 7 | | hitting two holes-in-one in his lifetime, one at each of the |
| 8 | | country clubs he belonged to, and he was an enthusiastic |
| 9 | | Bradley University basketball season ticket holder; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Harold King possessed a quiet strength and lived |
| 11 | | his life with inspiring optimism; he will be remembered for |
| 12 | | his kindness, wit, and swift ability to tell a clever joke; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Harold King was preceded in death by his wife of |
| 14 | | 67 years, Ann, and his brother, Frank King; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Harold King is survived by his children, Carol |
| 16 | | (Doug) and Corky (Julie); four grandchildren; five |
| 17 | | great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and his good friend, |
| 18 | | Mary Lou Breaden; therefore, be it |
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 21 | | Harold Edwin King Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to |
