SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John D. Rogers of Topeka, who passed
4away on November 27, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Rogers was born to John David and Virginia
6(Stennett) Rogers in Peoria on January 8, 1948; he graduated
7from Limestone High School in 1966; he then served in the U.S.
8Navy in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968; he married Kathryn Lynn
9Wooding on March 16, 1990; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Rogers held many jobs throughout his life,
11working for Keystone Wire and Steel and the Federal Warehouse
12Companies, including serving as a truck driver through Allied
13Van Lines; he also worked as semi driver for a local farmer;
14his final position was as a cashier at County Market in Havana;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Rogers was a lifetime member of VFW Post
17#6408 in Havana and a retired member of the Teamsters union;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Rogers lived life to the fullest and had
20many hobbies, including listening to music, dancing, and
21singing; he was an avid flat track motorcycle racer throughout

1his younger years, and he enjoyed motorcycles and classic
2cars, having more than a few over the course of his life; he
3made a homemade go-kart track in his yard in 2020, and he rode
4his go-kart, mini bike, and dune buggies almost every day; his
5favorite pastime was being with family and friends, laughing
6and smiling and enjoying life; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Rogers was preceded in death by his parents
8and his sisters, Caroline Joanne Wood and Betty Hanson; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Rogers is survived by his wife of 37 years,
10Kathy; his children, Sierra (Jake) Trainer and Andrew Rogers;
11three grandchildren; his brothers-in-law, Greg (Jonni) Wooding
12and David Wood; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15John D. Rogers and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of John Rogers as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
