| 2 |  |     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened  | 
| 3 |  | to learn of the death of Esther Irene Bruns Kinner, who passed  | 
| 4 |  | away on January 25, 2025; and   | 
| 5 |  |     WHEREAS, Esther Kinner was born to Lawrence Fredrick and  | 
| 6 |  | Mayme (Klokkenga) Bruns on March 19, 1948; at age 16, she began  | 
| 7 |  | a 50-plus year career in the competitive events office during  | 
| 8 |  | the Illinois State Fair; she graduated from San Jose High  | 
| 9 |  | School; she received a bachelor's degree in education from  | 
| 10 |  | Illinois State University and a master's degree from Saint  | 
| 11 |  | Xavier University; she married William David "Bill" Kinner on  | 
| 12 |  | November 17, 2024; and   | 
| 13 |  |     WHEREAS, Esther Kinner began teaching music at the  | 
| 14 |  | elementary schools in Pleasant Plains School District #8 in  | 
| 15 |  | 1970, retiring in 2005; she continued to provide piano lessons  | 
| 16 |  | after retirement; and   | 
| 17 |  |     WHEREAS, Esther Kinner was a member and elder of  | 
| 18 |  | Farmingdale Presbyterian Church and the Women's Ruth Circle;  | 
| 19 |  | she was an active member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and  | 
| 20 |  | Kappa Delta Omega; and   | 
| 21 |  |     WHEREAS, Esther Kinner was an avid attendee of the  |

| 1 |  | Springfield Symphony; and   | 
| 2 |  |     WHEREAS, Esther Kinner was preceded in death by her  | 
| 3 |  | parents; her sister, Carol; and her niece, Trudi; and   | 
| 4 |  |     WHEREAS, Esther Kinner is survived by her husband, Bill;  | 
| 5 |  | her sister, Faye (Bill Lawson) Bruns; her "adopted" sister,  | 
| 6 |  | Patty Taylor; her stepdaughters, Kristine (fiance, Sheldon  | 
| 7 |  | Fairfield) Clemens and Dawn (John) Weatherford; four  | 
| 8 |  | step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandsons; her  | 
| 9 |  | sister-in-law, Carol (Bob) Pappas; her brothers-in-law, Rick  | 
| 10 |  | (Mary) Kinner and Tim (Cynde) Kinner; and several nieces,  | 
| 11 |  | nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it   | 
| 12 |  |     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL  | 
| 13 |  | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of  | 
| 14 |  | Esther Irene Bruns Kinner and extend our sincere condolences  | 
| 15 |  | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be  | 
| 16 |  | it further   | 
| 17 |  |     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be  | 
| 18 |  | presented to the family of Esther Kinner as an expression of  | 
| 19 |  | our deepest sympathy. |
