| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Gene Austin Troutman of Vienna, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on January 1, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Gene Troutman was born in Carbondale to Charles | ||||||
| 6 | and Stella (Smith) Troutman on September 25, 1928; he attended | ||||||
| 7 | elementary, grade school, and high school in Carbondale before | ||||||
| 8 | being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War; he | ||||||
| 9 | trained at Camp McCoy in Wisconsin and served from 1950 to | ||||||
| 10 | 1952; he married Margaret Lowery on November 18, 1994; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Gene Troutman pursued training in mechanics and | ||||||
| 12 | television electronics and broadcasting, which aligned with | ||||||
| 13 | his passion for electronics; he worked for General Electric in | ||||||
| 14 | New York as a maintenance engineer before returning to | ||||||
| 15 | Southern Illinois when the plant closed; later, he worked for | ||||||
| 16 | and retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections in | ||||||
| 17 | Vienna; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Gene Troutman was an active member of Vienna | ||||||
| 19 | First Baptist Church; he enjoyed tinkering with electronics in | ||||||
| 20 | his spare time and loved spending time with his grandchildren | ||||||
| 21 | and great-grandchildren; his favorite movie, Short Circuit, | ||||||
| 22 | reflected his playful personality and his deep love for | ||||||

| 1 | technology; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Gene Troutman was known for his quick wit, strong | ||||||
| 3 | opinions, and spunky personality; his intelligence and ability | ||||||
| 4 | to solve problems were only matched by his sharp sense of humor | ||||||
| 5 | and playful spirit; he was never afraid to speak his mind and | ||||||
| 6 | was loved for his lively presence and candid nature; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Gene Troutman was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 8 | parents, Charles and Stella; his brother, Levere; his sister, | ||||||
| 9 | Kathleen; and his stepson, Anthony Buchan; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Gene Troutman is survived by his wife, Margaret | ||||||
| 11 | Troutman; his stepchildren, Patrick Buchan and Amy Holloman; | ||||||
| 12 | his grandchildren, Jessica Buchan (Travis Thomas), Seth (Macy) | ||||||
| 13 | Holloman, and Gabriel Holloman; and his great-grandchildren, | ||||||
| 14 | Laelle and Emet Holloman; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 17 | Gene Austin Troutman and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 19 | further | ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to the family of Gene Troutman as an expression of | ||||||
