| 2 |  |     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened  | 
| 3 |  | to learn of the death of Meghan Lynn Harmon of Divernon,  | 
| 4 |  | formerly of Litchfield, who passed away on January 26, 2025;  | 
| 5 |  | and   | 
| 6 |  |     WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon was born in Springfield to Robert  | 
| 7 |  | Joseph and Beth (Hermsmeyer) Harmon on December 22, 1983; she  | 
| 8 |  | graduated from Litchfield High School in 2002 and earned  | 
| 9 |  | several degrees, including an Associate Degree in Secondary  | 
| 10 |  | Education from Lincoln Land Community College in 2004, a  | 
| 11 |  | Bachelor of Arts in English in 2006 and a Master of Arts in  | 
| 12 |  | English in 2008, both from the University of Illinois  | 
| 13 |  | Springfield, and a Master of Science in Library and  | 
| 14 |  | Information Science in 2012 from the University of Illinois  | 
| 15 |  | Urbana-Champaign; she married Greg Bishop in Springfield on  | 
| 16 |  | September 17, 2015; and   | 
| 17 |  |     WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon taught young adults English and  | 
| 18 |  | humanities as an adjunct professor at Lincoln Land Community  | 
| 19 |  | College; she then served as the local history and genealogy  | 
| 20 |  | reference librarian at the Chatham Area Public Library  | 
| 21 |  | District before taking the position of reference librarian at  | 
| 22 |  | the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, where she  | 
| 23 |  | earned the nickname "Megstar"; she then worked for the  | 
     |

| 1 |  | Illinois Secretary of State at the Illinois State Library as a  | 
| 2 |  | library program specialist; and   | 
| 3 |  |     WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon had a passion for books, and she  | 
| 4 |  | conducted professional presentations about rare manuscripts  | 
| 5 |  | and how the public can access a wealth of information from  | 
| 6 |  | their local and state libraries; she was involved in the  | 
| 7 |  | Friends of the Chatham Area Public Library, volunteering and  | 
| 8 |  | performing in a decade's worth of murder mystery fundraisers;  | 
| 9 |  | she also enjoyed bonding with her fellow honors students as  | 
| 10 |  | part of the International College Honor Society Phi Theta  | 
| 11 |  | Kappa; and   | 
| 12 |  |     WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon enjoyed traveling with her husband;  | 
| 13 |  | they made four trips to Iceland, hiked 10 miles of the Alaska  | 
| 14 |  | wilderness, toured many of the national parks in the  | 
| 15 |  | southwest, and explored some of nature's most amazing caves;  | 
| 16 |  | they also enjoyed concerts, dinners, game nights with close  | 
| 17 |  | friends, and holidays with family; when she was not busy  | 
| 18 |  | training for a foot race, kayaking with her husband, or taking  | 
| 19 |  | in arts and culture, she enjoyed home renovation projects; and   | 
| 20 |  |     WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon was preceded in death by her  | 
| 21 |  | maternal grandparents, Carl and Joyce (Satterlee) Hermsmeyer,  | 
| 22 |  | and paternal grandfather, William Harmon; and   |

| 1 |  |     WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon is survived by her husband, Greg;  | 
| 2 |  | her parents; her brother, Kyle R. Harmon; her paternal  | 
| 3 |  | grandmother, Margaret Harmon; her four-legged daughter figure,  | 
| 4 |  | Pause the Cat; the Honors Girls, Biz, Adrienne, Tiffer, and  | 
| 5 |  | Meesa; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and  | 
| 6 |  | nephews; therefore, be it   | 
| 7 |  |     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL  | 
| 8 |  | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of  | 
| 9 |  | Meghan Lynn Harmon and extend our sincere condolences to her  | 
| 10 |  | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it  | 
| 11 |  | further   | 
| 12 |  |     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be  | 
| 13 |  | presented to the family of Meghan Harmon as an expression of  | 
| 14 |  | our deepest sympathy. |
