SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Elizabeth Leigh "Lizzie" Dykstra of
4Savoy, who passed away on January 22, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lizzie Dykstra, the daughter of Greg and Joan
6Dykstra, was born in Urbana on July 8, 1981; she graduated from
7Urbana Middle School, formerly known as Prairie Elementary
8School, and the Urbana SPH (severe/profound handicapped)
9program; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lizzie Dykstra served as a minister and witness
11of her faith, which involved assisting her father through
12making salvation wrist beads and helping distribute them,
13including sharing them with strangers; her silent ministry was
14featured in a chapter of a book by author Kendra Smiley; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Lizzie Dykstra enjoyed traveling with her parents
16throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean, whether it was camping
17or cruising; she especially enjoyed visiting the Savoy Walmart
18to see her favorite employees, whose kindness made her smile;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Lizzie Dykstra, even with her profound
21disabilities, led a precious and valuable life while making a

1meaningful impact on hundreds of lives; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Lizzie Dykstra is survived by her parents; her
3brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Abbie; her niece and
4nephew, Sophie and Alex; and her many relatives and friends;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Elizabeth Leigh "Lizzie" Dykstra and extend our sincere
9condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
10her; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Lizzie Dykstra as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
