| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Elizabeth Leigh "Lizzie" Dykstra of |
| 4 | | Savoy, who passed away on January 22, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Lizzie Dykstra, the daughter of Greg and Joan |
| 6 | | Dykstra, was born in Urbana on July 8, 1981; she graduated from |
| 7 | | Urbana Middle School, formerly known as Prairie Elementary |
| 8 | | School, and the Urbana SPH (severe/profound handicapped) |
| 9 | | program; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Lizzie Dykstra served as a minister and witness |
| 11 | | of her faith, which involved assisting her father through |
| 12 | | making salvation wrist beads and helping distribute them, |
| 13 | | including sharing them with strangers; her silent ministry was |
| 14 | | featured in a chapter of a book by author Kendra Smiley; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Lizzie Dykstra enjoyed traveling with her parents |
| 16 | | throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean, whether it was camping |
| 17 | | or cruising; she especially enjoyed visiting the Savoy Walmart |
| 18 | | to see her favorite employees, whose kindness made her smile; |
| 19 | | and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Lizzie Dykstra, even with her profound |
| 21 | | disabilities, led a precious and valuable life while making a |
