SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 
3recognize Officer Anthony J. Rouba for his service in the U.S. 
4Marine Corps and as a Chicago police officer; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Officer Rouba was born in Chicago on January 27, 
61967; after growing up in the city, he graduated from high 
7school, married his wife, and welcomed his child in 1986; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Officer Rouba joined the U.S. Marine Corps, 
9trained in San Diego, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, 
10California; he served with the 1st Marine Division, 3rd 
11Amphibious Assault Battalion, Charlie Company; he was deployed 
12overseas on naval vessels, including during Desert 
13Shield/Desert Storm in August 1990, extending his service by 
14one month; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Throughout Officer Rouba's career with the Marine 
16Corps, he received multiple awards and was meritoriously 
17promoted twice; and
 
18    WHEREAS, After being discharged, Officer Rouba began 
19training at the Chicago Police Academy in September 2022, 
20where he became a squad leader and then a Chicago police 
21officer; he joined the Gang Enforcement Unit and sustained

1several injuries while apprehending dangerous offenders; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Officer Rouba was stationed at Cermak and 
3Michigan in Chicago during the 2012 NATO Summit when he was 
4injured in the line of duty as assailants were attempting to 
5breach a police perimeter; after recovering, he returned to 
6service at the Art Institute of Chicago for a short time as 
7protestors were attempting to break through the police line; 
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Officer Rouba is currently assigned to the 12th 
10District Patrol Division of the Chicago Police Department with 
11star number 15409; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the 
14exemplary service of Officer Anthony J. Rouba, especially for 
15his experience in the line of duty during the 2012 NATO Summit; 
16and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18delivered to Officer Rouba as a symbol of our esteem and 
19respect.
