SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul H. Saletnik of Des Plaines, who passed away on January 8, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik was born in Chicago on August 27, 1950; he attended Gordon Tech High School, where he discovered a lifelong love for music and drumming; he earned a bachelor's degree in architecture at the University of Illinois Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik worked as an architect with the Chicago & North Western Railroad for 22 years and then as a kitchen designer for Home Depot for 22 years; and

WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik, a proud Des Plaines resident of 52 years, served on the city's zoning board of appeals for 16 years and then, starting in 2016, on the newly combined planning and zoning board; and

WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik also served on the board of the Des Plaines Theater Preservation Society, which worked to save the former movie theater at 1476 Miner St. from destruction and was bought by the city in 2016, renovated, and reopened as a venue for live entertainment in 2021; he will especially be remembered for his work ethic, eagerness to help others, and ability to be fully present in the moment; and

WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Jean (Andzjewski) Saletnik, and his first wife, Barbara Ann Saletnik; and

WHEREAS, Paul Saletnik is survived by his wife, Krystyna Saletnik-Stachurska; three children; two grandchildren; two siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul H. Saletnik and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Saletnik as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
