SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Mildred E. "Millie" Pryor of Rockford,
4who passed away on January 2, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Millie Pryor, the daughter of George and Vennie
6(Tarpley) Barkley, was born in Peach Orchard, Arkansas on June
717, 1927; she married Oliver H. Pryor in Loves Park, Illinois
8on June 17, 1950; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Millie Pryor worked at J.I. Case and Woolworth's
10in Loves Park before retiring from the credit department of
11Sears Roebuck & Co. in 1982; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Millie Pryor, along with her husband, were
13founders and former members of Windsor Baptist Church; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Millie Pryor loved baking for others, including
15making special character birthday cakes for her grandchildren,
16wedding cakes for many young women at her church, and trays of
17cookies for friends; she also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and
18reading; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Millie Pryor was preceded in death by her
20parents; her husband; her great-grandson, Noah Schimmel; her

1brother, Clint Barkley; and her sisters, Mary Barkley, Thelma
2Smith, Helen Herd, and Ellen Reid; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Millie Pryor is survived by her son, Ronald
4(Becky) Pryor; her daughter, Karen (Bill) Durtschi; five
5grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her special family
6member, Debra Bokath; her sister, Kathy (Henry) Greene; and
7many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Mildred E. "Millie" Pryor and extend our sincere condolences
11to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Millie Pryor as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
