| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Helen |
| 4 | | Pattrick, who passed away on June 12, 2026; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Helen Pattrick was born to Joseph Smith and Hixie |
| 6 | | Mae Smith on July 13, 1945; she was raised in Opelika, Alabama, |
| 7 | | where she graduated from J.W. Darden High School in 1963; she |
| 8 | | then moved to New York City to join her sisters; she married |
| 9 | | Willie M. "Pat" Pattrick on August 30, 1966, and they |
| 10 | | relocated to Markham, Illinois in 1973, where they built a |
| 11 | | life together for 44 years until his passing in 2010; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Helen Pattrick worked for the American Bar |
| 13 | | Association during her professional career, faithfully serving |
| 14 | | until her retirement in 2008; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Helen Pattrick committed to her faith at an early |
| 16 | | age and was baptized at Ferguson Chapel C.M.E. Church in |
| 17 | | Opelika, Alabama; after moving from Port Chester, New York to |
| 18 | | Markham, Illinois, she became a devoted and active member of |
| 19 | | Christ First Baptist Church for more than 40 years; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Helen Pattrick, known for her radiant smile, deep |
| 21 | | dimples, and warm spirit, possessed the remarkable ability to |
