HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Agatucci family on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Agatucci's Restaurant in 2026; and

WHEREAS, Agatucci's Restaurant has operated continuously from its location at University Street and Gift Avenue in Peoria since 1926, surviving and adapting through the Great Depression, World War II, changing economic conditions, shifting consumer preferences, and unprecedented challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS, Agatucci's Restaurant represents the contributions of Italian American families and immigrant entrepreneurs whose determination, sacrifice, and vision have helped to shape communities throughout Illinois and the United States; and

WHEREAS, Agatucci's Restaurant has been run by members of the Agatucci family for four generations, demonstrating the enduring values of hard work, resilience, customer service, and family entrepreneurship that have long defined Illinois communities; and

WHEREAS, Over the past century, Agatucci's Restaurant has contributed significantly to the local and State economy by providing employment opportunities, generating tax revenue, supporting suppliers, and attracting visitors to the region, illustrating the important role small businesses play in sustaining local economies and strengthening communities; and

WHEREAS, Agatucci's Restaurant has become a community institution, hosting countless birthdays parties, anniversary celebrations, first dates, and business meetings; it serves as a living connection between generations and stands as a reminder of the traditions and relationships that define a strong community; and

WHEREAS, Agatucci's Restaurant was honored by the City of Peoria with the designation of the adjacent intersection as Via Agatucci in 2025, celebrating its role as a symbol of stability, tradition, and civic pride and recognizing the Agatucci family's enduring impact on the community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Agatucci family on the 100th anniversary of Agatucci's Restaurant in 2026, and we extend our gratitude for a century of family stewardship, job creation, cultural preservation, and community investment; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Agatucci family as an expression of our esteem and respect.
