HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy 
4Ann Salzer, who passed away on July 16, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy Salzer, the daughter of Sheldon and Lorene 
6(Pindell) Hankey, was born in Bloomington on June 12, 1941; as 
7a child, she enjoyed visiting the public library, attending 
8youth activities at First Christian Church, and going to camp 
9each summer at Lake Bloomington; she worked in her family's 
10grocery store, where she became known for her skill in sacking 
11groceries; she graduated from Bloomington High School and 
12earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Illinois State 
13Normal University (ISNU), now Illinois State University; she 
14married Phil Salzer; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Nancy Salzer began her teaching career at Moore 
16High School in Farmer City; she returned to ISNU as a dormitory 
17director for Haynie Hall and then worked at Bradley University 
18in admissions, financial aid, and counseling for eight years; 
19a National Certified Counselor, she spent the remainder of her 
20career at Washington High School as a counselor and instructor 
21in psychology and physical education; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Nancy Salzer was a loyal fan of the New York

1Yankees and the Green Bay Packers; she loved to travel, 
2touring the United States with her husband and eventually 
3visiting over 100 countries with her friends; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Nancy Salzer was preceded in death by her parents 
5and her infant brother; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Nancy Salzer is survived by her husband of nearly 
760 years, Phil; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her 
8travel companion and best friend, Sharon Bennington; 
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
11HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
12we mourn the passing of Nancy Ann Salzer and extend our sincere 
13condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
14her; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to the family of Nancy Salzer as an expression of our 
17deepest sympathy.
