| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Six Flags Great America |
| 4 | | on the occasion its 50th anniversary, marking a half decade of |
| 5 | | making lasting memories and contributions to the people and |
| 6 | | economy of the State of Illinois; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Six Flags Great America first opened its gates as |
| 8 | | Marriott's Great America in Gurnee on May 29, 1976, welcoming |
| 9 | | generations of families to a destination built to provide |
| 10 | | world-class entertainment and unforgettable experiences in the |
| 11 | | Midwest; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Over the past five decades, Six Flags Great |
| 13 | | America has grown into one of Illinois' premier tourist |
| 14 | | attractions, drawing millions of visitors from across the |
| 15 | | nation and around the world while serving as a cornerstone of |
| 16 | | Lake County's tourism industry and local economy; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Throughout its history, Six Flags Great America |
| 18 | | has been home to numerous innovative and record-breaking |
| 19 | | attractions, including the iconic Columbia Carousel, one of |
| 20 | | the tallest double-decker carousels in the world, and the |
| 21 | | legendary American Eagle, which debuted in 1981 as the tallest |
| 22 | | and fastest racing wooden roller coaster in the world; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Six Flags Great America has continually evolved |
| 2 | | while preserving cherished traditions, introducing nationally |
| 3 | | recognized attractions such as Batman: The Ride, the world's |
| 4 | | first inverted Batman-themed roller coaster, Raging Bull, |
| 5 | | Goliath, Maxx Force, and many other acclaimed rides that have |
| 6 | | solidified the park's reputation as one of America's premier |
| 7 | | amusement destinations; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Beyond its rides and attractions, Six Flags Great |
| 9 | | America has provided meaningful employment opportunities for |
| 10 | | thousands of Illinois residents, fostered community |
| 11 | | partnerships, and created lasting memories for countless |
| 12 | | families through seasonal celebrations, live entertainment, |
| 13 | | and special events; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, As Six Flags Great America celebrates its golden |
| 15 | | anniversary, it continues to honor its rich history while |
| 16 | | investing in the future through new attractions, |
| 17 | | entertainment, and experiences that will inspire generations |
| 18 | | of guests to come; therefore, be it
|
| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 20 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 21 | | we congratulate Six Flags Great America on its 50th |
| 22 | | anniversary, thank its leadership and employees, past and |
