HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Michael Lubelfeld, Ed.D.
4on the occasion of his retirement as superintendent of North
5Shore School District 112 on June 30, 2026; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Lubelfeld has built a distinguished and
7deeply impactful career in public education spanning more than
8three decades and marked by a steadfast commitment to
9students, educators, and the broader community; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Lubelfeld served as superintendent of North
11Shore School District 112 from 2018 to 2026, with his total
12service to the district spanning 21 years and including his
13role as principal of Elm Place Middle School, where he began
14his administrative career after first serving as a dedicated
15classroom teacher; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Dr. Lubelfeld earned a
17reputation as a thoughtful and visionary leader whose steady
18guidance, integrity, and unwavering focus on students helped
19to shape a culture of excellence and care within the district;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, During his tenure as superintendent, Dr.

1Lubelfeld guided District 112 through a period of significant
2change, modernization, and growth, always placing the needs of
3students at the center of decision making and inspiring
4confidence among families, staff, and the community; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Lubelfeld played a key role in advancing the
6district's Long-Range Facilities Plan, including the
7modernization of Northwood and Edgewood Middle Schools and
8major improvements to Indian Trail, Ravinia, Sherwood,
9Braeside, and Wayne Thomas Elementary Schools, leaving a
10lasting physical and educational legacy for future
11generations; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Under Dr. Lubelfeld's leadership, the community
13approved a 2022 referendum that secured $114.4 million in
14funding to modernize elementary schools and expand access to
15air conditioning, updated learning environments, and hot lunch
16programs across the district, reflecting the trust and respect
17he had earned from those he served; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Under Dr. Lubelfeld's guidance, District 112
19achieved strong academic results, including record-high
20student proficiency in English language arts and mathematics,
21and all nine schools earned High-Reliability School
22certification, demonstrating a sustained commitment to
23excellence; and

1    WHEREAS, During Dr. Lubelfeld's tenure, Indian Trail and
2Braeside Elementary Schools were recognized as National Blue
3Ribbon Schools, further highlighting the district's success
4under his leadership; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Lubelfeld led District 112 through
6significant challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and
7the aftermath of the July 4, 2022 Highland Park tragedy, with
8compassion, resilience, and a focus on communication,
9collaboration, and support for students, staff, and families;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Beyond his work in District 112, Dr. Lubelfeld
12has contributed meaningfully to the broader field of education
13through mentoring future leaders, delivering professional
14presentations, and co-authoring five books on educational
15leadership, student voice, professional growth, and leading
16through change; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Lubelfeld is widely admired and cherished by
18colleagues, students, and families alike for his optimism,
19accessibility, humility, and genuine belief in the
20transformative power of public education; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dr. Lubelfeld's legacy in District 112 includes

1strengthened schools, improved facilities, a unified and
2forward-looking vision, and an enduring commitment to the
3success and well-being of every child; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we congratulate Michael Lubelfeld, Ed.D. on the conclusion of
7his exemplary and inspiring career in public education, and we
8thank him for his dedicated service to North Shore School
9District 112 and the profound and lasting impact he has made on
10students, educators, and the community; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Dr. Lubelfeld as a symbol of our respect and
13esteem.
