| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to commend Christina "Chris" Kuberski on |
| 4 | | her outstanding leadership and service to Highland Community |
| 5 | | College and the citizens of northwestern Illinois throughout |
| 6 | | her distinguished career in higher education; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski was named the ninth president of |
| 8 | | Highland Community College in July 2020 after serving for five |
| 9 | | years as the college's executive vice president; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski's leadership and commitment to |
| 11 | | fostering a positive workplace culture helped Highland |
| 12 | | Community College be recognized for three consecutive years |
| 13 | | with the Best of the Region Community's Choice Award among |
| 14 | | employers with 101 to 500 employees; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski guided Highland Community College |
| 16 | | to national recognition from SmartAsset, ranking 59th among |
| 17 | | community colleges nationwide and first among community |
| 18 | | colleges in Illinois based on student success metrics, |
| 19 | | including retention rates, affordability, and |
| 20 | | student-to-faculty ratios; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski has transformed the campus of |

| 1 | | Highland by enhancing educational opportunities and student |
| 2 | | experiences, including the development of new welding and CNC |
| 3 | | machining laboratories, a nursing simulation hospital, a |
| 4 | | mobile medical unit, renovations to fine arts facilities, |
| 5 | | improved student spaces, a new welcome center, and a new |
| 6 | | testing center; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski has championed investments in |
| 8 | | innovative technologies and student support systems, including |
| 9 | | the implementation of DegreeWorks degree-planning software and |
| 10 | | the CourseLeaf catalog management system, helping students |
| 11 | | more effectively navigate their educational pathways; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski has demonstrated a strong |
| 13 | | commitment to academic excellence and institutional |
| 14 | | improvement through her service as a peer reviewer for the |
| 15 | | Higher Learning Commission and as a member of the Alliance for |
| 16 | | Innovation and Transformation; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski has remained actively engaged in |
| 18 | | her community through service on the boards of the Greater |
| 19 | | Freeport Partnership, Northwest Illinois Economic Development, |
| 20 | | and the Region 1 Planning Council; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski's leadership and service have been |
| 22 | | recognized through numerous honors, including the 2021 YWCA |

| 1 | | Women of Achievement Business Award, the 2025 Stephenson |
| 2 | | County Community Champion Award, and as one of Northwest |
| 3 | | Quarterly's "25 Most Interesting People"; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Chris Kuberski's vision, dedication, and |
| 5 | | commitment to student success has made a lasting impact on |
| 6 | | Highland Community College, the Freeport region, and the State |
| 7 | | of Illinois; therefore, be it |
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 9 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 10 | | we commend Christina "Chris" Kuberski on her outstanding |
| 11 | | leadership and service to Highland Community College and the |
| 12 | | citizens of northwestern Illinois throughout her distinguished |
| 13 | | career in higher education and wish her continued success and |
| 14 | | happiness in all her future endeavors; and be it further |
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 16 | | presented to Chris Kuberski as a symbol of our respect and |
| 17 | | esteem. |
