| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Steve Stuart, Ed.D. on |
| 4 | | the conclusion of his outstanding career in education while |
| 5 | | making a lasting impact on Edwardsville Community Unit School |
| 6 | | District #7, the EGHM Foundation, and the Edwardsville |
| 7 | | community; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart, a 1985 graduate of Edwardsville High |
| 9 | | School (EHS), earned his bachelor's degree in history from |
| 10 | | Illinois State University in 1990, and he later completed a |
| 11 | | Master of Education in 1999 and a Doctor of Education from |
| 12 | | Saint Louis University in 2007; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart devoted more than two decades to |
| 14 | | educational administration within Edwardsville Community Unit |
| 15 | | School District #7, serving in several impactful leadership |
| 16 | | roles throughout his distinguished career; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart began his administrative career as an |
| 18 | | assistant principal at EHS before serving as principal of |
| 19 | | Lincoln Middle School for 13 years, where he positively |
| 20 | | impacted countless students, families, and educators; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart later returned to EHS as principal, |

| 1 | | serving four years as the instructional leader of one of the |
| 2 | | largest high schools in the region, where he was responsible |
| 3 | | for overseeing nearly 2,400 students, EHS South, the N.O. |
| 4 | | Nelson campus, and the school's extensive athletic facilities; |
| 5 | | and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Stuart helped |
| 7 | | relaunch the EHS Hall of Fame, which had remained dormant |
| 8 | | since the late 1980s, through working alongside former |
| 9 | | Athletic Director Alex Fox and the Edwardsville Community Unit |
| 10 | | School District #7 Board of Education to successfully |
| 11 | | reinstate the organization in 2021; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart championed academic innovation during |
| 13 | | his tenure, including the transition from the traditional |
| 14 | | valedictorian and salutatorian rankings to a laude recognition |
| 15 | | system designed to encourage students to pursue courses based |
| 16 | | on personal interests, educational value, and future career |
| 17 | | goals; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Following his retirement as an administrator at |
| 19 | | Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7 in 2024, Dr. |
| 20 | | Stuart continued his service to education and the Edwardsville |
| 21 | | community as executive director of the EGHM Foundation, a |
| 22 | | not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization established in the late |
| 23 | | 1970s for the sole purpose of supporting District #7, with |

| 1 | | members consisting of local business leaders throughout the |
| 2 | | community who focus on funding projects that directly benefit |
| 3 | | as many students as possible; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Dr. Stuart earned the |
| 5 | | respect and admiration of students, staff, parents, and |
| 6 | | community members through his calm leadership style, |
| 7 | | student-centered approach, and unwavering commitment to |
| 8 | | educational excellence; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart's lifelong dedication to education, |
| 10 | | leadership, and student success has left a lasting impact on |
| 11 | | Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7 and the broader |
| 12 | | community; therefore, be it |
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 14 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 15 | | we congratulate Steve Stuart, Ed.D. on concluding his |
| 16 | | outstanding career in education, and we commend him for his |
| 17 | | years of exemplary service and leadership to Edwardsville |
| 18 | | Community Unit School District #7, the EGHM Foundation, and |
| 19 | | the Edwardsville community; and be it further |
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to Dr. Stuart as an expression of our esteem and |
| 22 | | respect. |
