HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend the members of the Stonewall
4Stitchers for their years of dedicated service; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Founded by DeAnn Anderson in Pecatonica in 2004,
6the Stonewall Stitchers organization was established for the
7purpose of making lap robes and quilts for nursing home
8residents, sick and shut-in individuals in the community, and
9others in need; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Stonewall Stitchers is a fellowship of ladies
11who gather to share their talents for the benefit of many
12communities, and the group has sent lap robes and quilts all
13across Illinois; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The members of the Stonewall Stitchers meet at
15Stonewall Cafe in Pecatonica every Tuesday morning to cut,
16arrange, sew, tie, and hem robes and quilts that are then sent
17to children's homes, abuse centers, nursing homes, cancer
18centers, veterans' homes, new military recruits from area high
19schools, and individual medical and cancer patients; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The ladies of the Stonewall Stitchers have
21produced and delivered almost 20,000 robes and quilts since

1they first began, with material, yarn, and batting being
2donated by many residents of the community, who have even
3donated sewing machines to assist in the project; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The members of the Stonewall Stitchers who
5attended the last meeting were DeAnn Anderson, Sandra Elliott,
6Vi Johns, Maryellen Kinney, Sue Mangus, Sue Thurman, and Pat
7Wasmund; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we commend the members of the Stonewall Stitchers for their
11long-standing service, and we thank them for their dedication
12and contributions to the community; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the Stonewall Stitchers as symbol of our esteem
15and respect.
