| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marilyn |
| 4 | | Lea Satterwhite of Danville, who passed away on January 5, |
| 5 | | 2026; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite, the daughter of Raymond and |
| 7 | | Lucile Weinard, was born in Rossville on October 8, 1942; she |
| 8 | | graduated from Rossville Public Schools in 1960; she earned |
| 9 | | her Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Eastern |
| 10 | | Illinois University in 1964; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite, after earning her college |
| 12 | | degree, became a teacher at Danville High School; after |
| 13 | | meeting Mary Miller, the founding president of Danville Junior |
| 14 | | College (DJC), she was persuaded to teach veterans returning |
| 15 | | from World War II and advanced shorthand at DJC; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Marilyn Satterwhite was a recognized and honored |
| 17 | | founder of Danville Area Community College (DACC) and |
| 18 | | chairwoman of the DACC Business Division; she was co-founder |
| 19 | | of the DACC Chapter of the State University Annuitants |
| 20 | | Association, where she served in leadership roles until 2025; |
| 21 | | she was also instrumental in launching the Business and |
| 22 | | Economic Institute of DACC and established DACC's first |
