| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Roger Stieg on being |
| 4 | | recognized at the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall |
| 5 | | of Fame Annual Awards in 2026; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Roger Stieg played for Nashville High School from |
| 7 | | 1975 to 1979, highlighted by three conference titles, three |
| 8 | | regional titles, two sectional titles, and a Class A state |
| 9 | | championship during his career; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Roger Stieg was Nashville High School's career |
| 11 | | scoring leader for 27 years with 1,616 points; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Roger Stieg was inducted into the 2024 M-Club |
| 13 | | Hall of Fame at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) |
| 14 | | following his time as a student athlete playing basketball at |
| 15 | | the university; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Roger Stieg earned four letters for Ole Miss in |
| 17 | | men's basketball from 1980 to 1983, and he helped lead the |
| 18 | | university to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school |
| 19 | | history in 1981; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, During Roger Stieg's college career, the Ole Miss |

| 1 | | Rebels played in the National Invitation Tournament three |
| 2 | | times in 1980, 1982, and 1983; and |
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Roger Stieg played in 121 games during his career |
| 4 | | at Ole Miss in which he scored 957 points and had an average of |
| 5 | | 7.9 points per game; when his college career ended, he ranked |
| 6 | | first in career field goal percentage at 56.0 percent, and he |
| 7 | | still ranks fourth all-time; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Roger Stieg, as a dependable post player who |
| 9 | | assumed more scoring and rebounding responsibility as a |
| 10 | | senior, was named third-team All-SEC by The Associated Press; |
| 11 | | and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Roger Stieg graduated with a business degree and |
| 13 | | a certification to teach in 1984; he taught mathematics at |
| 14 | | Centralia High School for 33 years and coached the boys and |
| 15 | | girls basketball team until 2018; therefore, be it |
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 17 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 | | we congratulate Roger Stieg on being recognized at the |
| 19 | | Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Annual |
