HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta
3Sorority, Inc. are internationally recognized organizations
4founded on the principles of brotherhood, scholarship,
5service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood respectively; and
 
6    WHEREAS, These two organizations share a historic and
7enduring constitutional bond, committed to advancing social
8justice, civic engagement, and community empowerment; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and
10Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. have consistently demonstrated
11leadership in education, public service, health advocacy, and
12economic development in communities across the State of
13Illinois and the nation; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Honorable members of the Illinois House of
15Representatives, past and present, who have been members of
16Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., include Harold Washington, La
17Shawn K. Ford, Cyril Nichols, and Michael Crawford; and
 
18    WHEREAS, On May 19, 2026, members of Phi Beta Sigma
19Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. will convene
20at the Illinois State Capitol to engage with policymakers,
21elevate issues impacting their communities, and promote

1informed civic participation; and
 
2    WHEREAS, This advocacy day reflects the continued
3commitment of both organizations to uplift underserved
4communities and to ensure that the voices of those communities
5are heard in the legislative process; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois benefits from the civic
7leadership, volunteerism, and policy advocacy demonstrated by
8members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta
9Sorority, Inc.; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we commend the efforts of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and
13Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on their advocacy day at the
14Illinois State Capitol on May 19, 2026; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That we further commend the members of Phi Beta
16Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. for
17their unwavering commitment to service, advocacy, and
18community advancement; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
20presented to the state, regional, and international leadership
21of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority,
