HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Massac County 
4Historical Society on the occasion of its 50-year anniversary; 
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, In 1976, the Massac County Historical Society was 
7founded to celebrate, preserve, and promote knowledge of the 
8history of Massac County; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Since its founding, the Massac County Historical 
10Society has fulfilled this mission by establishing the Elijah 
11P. Curtis Home Museum, sharing the history of Major Elijah 
12Patterson Curtis and the rich heritage of Massac County; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Elijah P. Curtis Home Museum has been listed 
14on the National Register of Historic Places and restored in 
15part to the time period when Major Curtis and his family lived 
16there, and the museum also contains displays highlighting 
17other eras of Massac County history; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Massac County Historical Society has further 
19advanced its mission by publishing four volumes of Massac 
20County history along with several brochures and other 
21informational materials; and

1    WHEREAS, On June 6, 2026, the Massac County Historical 
2Society will hold a celebration to honor its 50th anniversary; 
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we congratulate the Massac County Historical Society on 
7celebrating its 50-year anniversary on June 6, 2026; and be it 
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That we commend the Massac County Historical 
10Society for its many contributions and outstanding service in 
11preserving the history of Massac County and the State of 
12Illinois; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to the Massac County Historical Society as a symbol 
15of our esteem and respect.
