| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Adrienne L. Adams, M.D. |
| 4 | | on her historic election as the first Black woman to serve as |
| 5 | | president of the Illinois Psychiatric Society; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Adams earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology |
| 7 | | from Oberlin College and a Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State |
| 8 | | University School of Medicine, completing her residency in |
| 9 | | psychiatry and a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at |
| 10 | | the University of Illinois Chicago; she earned a Master of |
| 11 | | Science in Clinical Research from Rush University; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Adams is a psychiatrist at Endeavor Health |
| 13 | | Medical Group and serves as training director for the |
| 14 | | Department of Psychiatry's Child and Adolescent Psychiatry |
| 15 | | section at the University of Illinois College of Medicine; she |
| 16 | | holds the position of clinical associate professor in the |
| 17 | | Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois College |
| 18 | | of Medicine Rockford as well as associate professor-adjunct in |
| 19 | | the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rush |
| 20 | | University Medical Center in Chicago; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Adams is board certified in addiction |
| 22 | | medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, board |

| 2 | | Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and board certified in |

| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Adams has received numerous professional |
| 6 | | honors and awards throughout her career, including the |
| 7 | | American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry |
| 8 | | Outstanding Mentor Award, the Illinois Psychiatric Society |
| 9 | | Community Service Award, the American Psychiatric Association |
| 10 | | and American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry |
| 11 | | Distinguished Fellow Award, the Wayne State University School |
| 12 | | of Medicine - Department of Psychiatry Distinguished Medical |
| 13 | | Student Award, and induction into the Honorary American |
| 14 | | College of Psychiatrists; she was also named Teacher of the |
| 15 | | Year in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry section of the |
| 16 | | Department of Psychiatry at Rush University and Outstanding |
| 17 | | Resident of the Year by Pfizer U.S. Pharmaceuticals; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Adams actively serves her profession and |
| 19 | | community as a leader in many local and national |
| 20 | | organizations, including the Illinois Psychiatric Society, the |
| 21 | | American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of |
| 22 | | Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Illinois Council of Child |
| 23 | | and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Medical Association, |
| 24 | | the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency |

| 2 | | Remediation Medical and Research Working Group, the Illinois |

| 4 | | Psychiatrists, and the Illinois State Medical Society; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Adams continues to mentor, support, and serve |
| 6 | | as a role model for psychiatry students and young |
| 7 | | professionals; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Adams is an accomplished author and |
| 9 | | researcher and a prominent lecturer, presenter, and media |
| 10 | | spokesperson on mental health and health equity issues; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Adams remains a committed advocate for health |
| 12 | | equity, inclusion, and social justice; therefore, be it |
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 14 | | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 15 | | we congratulate Adrienne L. Adams, M.D. on her historic |
| 16 | | election as the first Black woman to serve as president of the |
| 17 | | Illinois Psychiatric Society, and we commend her remarkable |
| 18 | | career rooted in professional excellence and community |
| 19 | | service; and be it further |
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to Dr. Adams as a symbol of our respect and esteem. |
