HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mia
4Webster-Cross, who passed away on March 4, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross, the daughter of Nancy Lee and
6Elmo Webster, was born on February 26, 1965; she attended
7Kennedy-Coolidge Elementary School and Thornridge High School,
8where she was a cheerleader, and earned a degree in licensed
9practical nursing from Thornton Community College, now South
10Suburban College; she completed her degree in registered
11nursing and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a
12Master of Science in Nursing; she later earned certifications
13in diabetes care and massage therapy; she married Michael
14Cross on September 7, 1991; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross began her career at Ingalls
16Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a registered nurse for
17ten years; she joined Family Christian Health Center at its
18inception and worked there for more than 20 years in a variety
19of roles, including clinical support nurse, clinical
20operations manager, and, at the time of her passing, chief
21operating officer; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross served her community through

1many impactful programs, including KidFest, which prepared
2over 100,000 children for the back-to-school season, and
3Direct Relief, a national humanitarian organization that
4provides medical supplies and disaster relief; she developed a
5food and nutrition outreach program that, in partnership with
6other Federally Qualified Health Centers, helped distribute
7over 85,000 boxes of food during the COVID-19 crisis; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross received numerous awards
9recognizing her community impact, including the Cook County
10Department of Public Health's Outstanding Community Partner
11Award and the United Way April Food Day Individual Leadership
12Award; as a result of her leadership and commitment during the
13COVID-19 pandemic, she was invited to the Governor's office to
14highlight her impressive work; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross embraced her faith at an early
16age and was baptized at Peace & Goodwill Church of God in
17Christ in Phoenix; she later became a member of St. Mark
18Missionary Baptist Church in Harvey, and she most recently
19attended Family Christian Center Church in Munster, Indiana;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross cherished the time she spent
22with her family; she enjoyed travel, especially cruises, and
23she loved the ocean and the beach; and

1    WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross was preceded in death by her
2parents and her brother, Tyrone; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross is survived by her husband,
4Michael; her sons, Keith and Mykel Zion; her daughter, Zariah
5Lynn; her siblings, Marie White and Daniel Webster; her
6granddaughter, Kaliah Cross; her special lifelong friends,
7Karen Loggins, Debbie Webster-Woods, and Winter Martin-Lewis;
8and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we mourn the passing of Mia Webster-Cross and extend our
13sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
14and loved her; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Mia Webster-Cross as an expression
17of our deepest sympathy.
