| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mia | ||||||
| 4 | Webster-Cross, who passed away on March 4, 2026; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross, the daughter of Nancy Lee and | ||||||
| 6 | Elmo Webster, was born on February 26, 1965; she attended | ||||||
| 7 | Kennedy-Coolidge Elementary School and Thornridge High School, | ||||||
| 8 | where she was a cheerleader, and earned a degree in licensed | ||||||
| 9 | practical nursing from Thornton Community College, now South | ||||||
| 10 | Suburban College; she completed her degree in registered | ||||||
| 11 | nursing and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a | ||||||
| 12 | Master of Science in Nursing; she later earned certifications | ||||||
| 13 | in diabetes care and massage therapy; she married Michael | ||||||
| 14 | Cross on September 7, 1991; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross began her career at Ingalls | ||||||
| 16 | Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a registered nurse for | ||||||
| 17 | ten years; she joined Family Christian Health Center at its | ||||||
| 18 | inception and worked there for more than 20 years in a variety | ||||||
| 19 | of roles, including clinical support nurse, clinical | ||||||
| 20 | operations manager, and, at the time of her passing, chief | ||||||
| 21 | operating officer; and | ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross served her community through | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | many impactful programs, including KidFest, which prepared | ||||||
| 2 | over 100,000 children for the back-to-school season, and | ||||||
| 3 | Direct Relief, a national humanitarian organization that | ||||||
| 4 | provides medical supplies and disaster relief; she developed a | ||||||
| 5 | food and nutrition outreach program that, in partnership with | ||||||
| 6 | other Federally Qualified Health Centers, helped distribute | ||||||
| 7 | over 85,000 boxes of food during the COVID-19 crisis; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross received numerous awards | ||||||
| 9 | recognizing her community impact, including the Cook County | ||||||
| 10 | Department of Public Health's Outstanding Community Partner | ||||||
| 11 | Award and the United Way April Food Day Individual Leadership | ||||||
| 12 | Award; as a result of her leadership and commitment during the | ||||||
| 13 | COVID-19 pandemic, she was invited to the Governor's office to | ||||||
| 14 | highlight her impressive work; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross embraced her faith at an early | ||||||
| 16 | age and was baptized at Peace & Goodwill Church of God in | ||||||
| 17 | Christ in Phoenix; she later became a member of St. Mark | ||||||
| 18 | Missionary Baptist Church in Harvey, and she most recently | ||||||
| 19 | attended Family Christian Center Church in Munster, Indiana; | ||||||
| 20 | and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross cherished the time she spent | ||||||
| 22 | with her family; she enjoyed travel, especially cruises, and | ||||||
| 23 | she loved the ocean and the beach; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 2 | parents and her brother, Tyrone; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Mia Webster-Cross is survived by her husband, | ||||||
| 4 | Michael; her sons, Keith and Mykel Zion; her daughter, Zariah | ||||||
| 5 | Lynn; her siblings, Marie White and Daniel Webster; her | ||||||
| 6 | granddaughter, Kaliah Cross; her special lifelong friends, | ||||||
| 7 | Karen Loggins, Debbie Webster-Woods, and Winter Martin-Lewis; | ||||||
| 8 | and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; | ||||||
| 9 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 11 | HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 12 | we mourn the passing of Mia Webster-Cross and extend our | ||||||
| 13 | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 14 | and loved her; and be it further | ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 16 | presented to the family of Mia Webster-Cross as an expression | ||||||
| 17 | of our deepest sympathy. | ||||||
