| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of |
| 4 | | Delores Showalter, who passed away on February 26, 2026; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Delores Showalter, the daughter of Frank and |
| 6 | | Dortha (Geer) Showalter, was born on July 8, 1944; she lived |
| 7 | | most of her life in Fancy Prairie before moving to Sherman; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Delores Showalter worked for the State of |
| 9 | | Illinois for 35 years, serving in key leadership roles in four |
| 10 | | state agencies and advocating passionately for women in state |
| 11 | | government; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Following a distinguished career with the State |
| 13 | | of Illinois, Delores Showalter continued making a difference |
| 14 | | for families at the Hope Institute for Children and Families |
| 15 | | in Springfield, where she served as chief human resources |
| 16 | | officer from 2003 until her retirement in 2018; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Delores Showalter was instrumental in shaping the |
| 18 | | Hope Institute as it is known today by helping build Hope |
| 19 | | School's ten-year strategic plan and strengthening human |
| 20 | | resources infrastructure at a critical time of growth, helping |
| 21 | | to more fully realize the Hope Institute's mission on behalf |
