HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly
3honor individuals whose lives and legacies inspire efforts to
4improve public health and safety; and
 
5    WHEREAS, George Edward Ludkowski, a constituent of the
677th State House District in Illinois, is remembered as a
7devoted husband, father, and friend, whose warmth and presence
8left a lasting impression on those who knew him, and whose life
9continues to be honored across communities in Illinois; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He was married to his beloved wife, Lili
11Ludkowski, for 46 years, and together they built a life
12centered on family, love, and community; and
 
13    WHEREAS, As a working-class man, he deeply valued
14education and the importance of giving back, dedicating his
15time to coaching T-ball and volunteering with a children's
16bowling league, where he positively impacted the lives of many
17young people; and
 
18    WHEREAS, His tragic passing, resulting from a choking
19incident at a restaurant, underscored the urgent need for
20greater awareness, preparedness, and access to life-saving
21tools in public settings; and

1    WHEREAS, Choking causes over 5,000 deaths annually in the
2United States, with adults over age 75 accounting for
3two-thirds of these incidents, and is the fourth leading cause
4of unintentional injury death; and
 
5    WHEREAS, In the wake of this loss, his wife has become a
6dedicated advocate for choking prevention awareness, working
7to educate the public and support efforts to prevent similar
8tragedies; and
 
9    WHEREAS, National Choking Prevention Awareness Day,
10observed annually on March 28, provides an important
11opportunity to promote education, prevention, and emergency
12preparedness; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we honor the life and legacy of George Edward Ludkowski, whose
16story continues to inspire awareness and advocacy; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of George Ludkowski as a symbol of our
20respect and remembrance.
