HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Central High School 
4Varsity Cheerleading squad, the Cougars, on winning the 
52025-2026 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A 
6Competitive Cheerleading State Final; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Cougars established themselves as one of the 
8top teams in the State during the regular season, capturing 
9first place in the 1A division at both the Edwardsville 
10Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association (ICCA) Invitational, 
11hosted by Edwardsville High School in December 2025, and the 
12All the Lights Competition at Lakes High School in January 
132026; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Cougars carried that momentum into the 
15postseason at the Edwardsville Sectional on January 31, 2026, 
16where the squad earned a first-place finish, securing the 
17program's ninth sectional championship in competitive 
18cheerleading and 17th appearance at the State finals; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The preliminary round of the IHSA Competitive 
20Cheerleading State Final took place on Friday, February 6, 
212026 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, where the 
22Cougars finished first out of 25 teams in the 1A division with

1a score of 94.02, more than two points ahead of Columbia High 
2School; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The Cougars captured their fifth state title with 
4a victory over Pinckneyville High School and Mater Dei High 
5School on February 7, 2026; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Cougars are led by Coaches Julianne Jacob, 
7Tea Cripe, Blake Bowers, and Morgan Jansen; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The members of the 2025-2026 Cougars include Abby 
9Becker, Mabry Benhoff, Grace Deiters, Anna Florcyzk, Ivy 
10Heimann, Avery Hemker, Hayden Lampe, Camryn Langhauser, Alyse 
11Morris, Grace Nordike, Jacey Robke, Maddy Ross, Halle 
12Schlautman, Ambryn Shirley, Lauren Jurgensmeyer, Remi Radloff, 
13Sarah Attaway, and Lily Thole; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
15HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
16we congratulate the Central High School Varsity Cheerleading 
17squad, the Cougars, on winning the 2025-2026 Illinois High 
18School Association (IHSA) Class 1A Competitive Cheerleading 
19State Final, and we wish the squad many more successful 
20seasons; and be it further
