HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sunil
4Puri, a visionary business leader, philanthropist, and
5respected member of the Rockford community; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sunil Puri, born in Mumbai, India, came to
7Rockford, Illinois in 1979, where he attended Rockford
8College, now Rockford University, beginning a journey defined
9by determination, entrepreneurship, and service to his
10community; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Sunil Puri founded First Midwest Group in 1984,
12which became a driving force in the economic development of
13Rockford, helping shape the city through commercial,
14residential, and retail developments that created jobs and
15expanded opportunity; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Sunil Puri believed deeply in education and
17opportunity, supporting numerous initiatives, including the
18creation of the Puri Business School at Rockford University,
19cultivating future generations of leaders; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Sunil Puri's commitment to community extended
21beyond business through philanthropy and civic leadership that

1strengthened organizations, supported residents, and enhanced
2the quality of life throughout the Rockford Region; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Sunil Puri was instrumental in establishing the
4Keeling-Puri Peace Plaza, a place dedicated to unity and
5understanding among people of all nations and backgrounds,
6reflecting his belief in the power of community and shared
7purpose; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Sunil Puri's legacy will endure not only through
9the developments and institutions he helped create but also
10through the countless lives he uplifted with his generosity,
11vision, and willingness to invest in the future of others;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of Sunil Puri and extend our sincere
16condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Sunil Puri as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
