HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Eric Wayne "Rick" Zehr, who passed away on March 7, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Rick Zehr was born to Kendall and Irene Zehr in Pontiac on July 9, 1962; he grew up working at the family hatchery and mill; he received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Illinois State University; he married Jennifer Schieber Clyatt on March 4, 1994; and

WHEREAS, Rick Zehr worked in healthcare, dedicating much of his career to addiction medicine; he led the Addiction Recovery Center at Proctor Hospital for many years, and he most recently served as part of Carle Health's Trillium Place team; he was gifted in his ability to create new programs and drive addiction treatment forward; and

WHEREAS, Rick Zehr was passionate about music, sports, and his family, and he treasured spending time with family and friends attending concerts, hanging out at the cabin, and playing with his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Rick Zehr was a people person who always listened to those around him, intent on making a genuine connection; and

WHEREAS, Rick Zehr is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jenny; his stepdaughter, Jessica (Jay) Bulaclac; two grandsons; his parents; his brother, Rodney (Patti) Zehr; one nephew; his aunt, Sandra Roof; his sister-in-law, Judy (Donal Hughes) Schieber; and his cousins and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eric Wayne "Rick" Zehr and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rick Zehr as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
