| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3595 on page 10, | ||||||
| 3 | line 23, after "insurance", by inserting "or market a wellness | ||||||
| 4 | program during the sale, solicitation, or negotiation of pet | ||||||
| 5 | insurance"; and | ||||||
| 6 | on page 11, immediately below line 25, by inserting the | ||||||
| 7 | following: | ||||||
| 8 | "(215 ILCS 5/1830 new) | ||||||
| 9 | Sec. 1830. Insurance producer training. | ||||||
| 10 | (a) An insurance producer shall not sell, solicit, or | ||||||
| 11 | negotiate a pet insurance product until after the producer is | ||||||
| 12 | appropriately licensed and has completed the required training | ||||||
| 13 | identified in subsection (c). | ||||||
| 14 | (b) An insurer shall ensure that its producers are trained | ||||||
| 15 | under subsection (c) and that its producers have been | ||||||
| 16 | appropriately trained on the coverages and conditions of its | ||||||

| 1 | pet insurance products. | ||||||
| 2 | (c) The training required under this Section shall include | ||||||
| 3 | information on the following topics: | ||||||
| 4 | (1) preexisting conditions and waiting periods; | ||||||
| 5 | (2) the differences between pet insurance and | ||||||
| 6 | noninsurance wellness programs; | ||||||
| 7 | (3) hereditary disorders, congenital anomalies or | ||||||
| 8 | disorders, and chronic conditions and how pet insurance | ||||||
| 9 | policies interact with those conditions or disorders; | ||||||
| 10 | (4) rating, underwriting, renewal, and other related | ||||||
| 11 | administrative topics. | ||||||
| 12 | (d) The satisfaction of the training requirements of | ||||||
| 13 | another state that are substantially similar to the | ||||||
| 14 | requirements of subsection (c) shall satisfy the training | ||||||
| 15 | requirements in this State. | ||||||
| 16 | (215 ILCS 5/1835 new) | ||||||
| 17 | Sec. 1835. Rules. The Department may adopt rules necessary | ||||||
| 18 | to implement this Article.". | ||||||
