SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
410 ILCS 620/10.5 new

    Amends the Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Provides that, beginning January 1, 2027, a food is adulterated for purposes of the Act if it bears or contains any brominated vegetable oil (CAS no. 8016-94-2). Specifies that, beginning January 1, 2027, a person shall not manufacture, sell, deliver, distribute, hold, or offer for sale, in commerce, a food product for human consumption that contains brominated vegetable oil (CAS no. 8016-94-2).

1    AN ACT concerning safety.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act is
5amended by adding Section 10.5 as follows:
 
6    (410 ILCS 620/10.5 new)
7    Sec. 10.5. Brominated vegetable oil ban.
8    (a) Beginning January 1, 2027, a food is adulterated for
9purposes of this Act if it bears or contains any brominated
10vegetable oil (CAS no. 8016-94-2).
11    (b) Beginning January 1, 2027, a person shall not
12manufacture, sell, deliver, distribute, hold, or offer for
13sale, in commerce, a food product for human consumption that
14contains brominated vegetable oil (CAS no. 8016-94-2).
