Synopsis As Introduced
Sets forth legislative findings concerning Operation Midway Blitz and other recent federal immigration enforcement activities in the State of Illinois. Establishes the Illinois Accountability Commission for the purpose of (1) creating a public record of the conduct of federal agents during Operation Midway Blitz and the Trump Administration’s military-style operations throughout the Chicagoland area; (2) examining the impact of that conduct on individuals and communities; and (3) considering policy recommendations to prevent future harm to these individuals and communities. Describes the duties of the Commission. Requires the Commission to report its findings to the Governor. Describes the composition of the Commission and the terms of its members. Directs the Department of Human Rights to provide administrative and professional staff support to the Commission. Contains savings and severability provisions. Effective October 23, 2025
