| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of John Steven "Steve" Kimbro of Nokomis, |
| 4 | | who passed away on November 17, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Steve Kimbro was born in Hillsboro to John Robert |
| 6 | | and Marian Louise (Worker) Kimbro on June 27, 1955; he married |
| 7 | | Susan G. Wollerman in Ramsey on September 1, 1979; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Steve Kimbro was a teacher and basketball coach |
| 9 | | at Nokomis High School, from which he graduated in 1973; he |
| 10 | | retired in 2020 after 39 seasons, amassing a record of 838 wins |
| 11 | | and 308 losses, making him fifth on the all-time Illinois high |
| 12 | | school basketball coach win list; he had four teams appear at |
| 13 | | the state tournament, second place finishes in 1983, 1997, and |
| 14 | | 2008 and a third place finish in 2013; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Steve Kimbro was inducted into the Illinois |
| 16 | | Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2003; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Steve Kimbro taught woodworking and building |
| 18 | | trades; he enjoyed carpentry, refurbishing tools, and fishing; |
