| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of William Fredrick "Bill" Nicholson of |
| 4 | | Cordova, who passed away on September 15, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson was born in Hillsdale to Lloyd and |
| 6 | | Minnie (Fillmer) Nicholson on December 20, 1927; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Hillsdale High School in 1946 and served in the United |
| 8 | | States Coast Guard; he married Doris Fisher, and they later |
| 9 | | divorced; he married Patricia (Coe) Zimmerman in Henry County |
| 10 | | on December 31, 1971; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson worked for Riverdale schools from |
| 12 | | 1955 to 1978, John Deere Harvester from 1978 to 1982, and then |
| 13 | | for United Township High School as a building and grounds |
| 14 | | supervisor from 1984 until his retirement in 1993; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson was a member of the Cordova |
| 16 | | American Legion and the Erie RC Club; he enjoyed going to tool |
| 17 | | shows and spending time in his garage woodworking; he was a |
| 18 | | great neighbor and was always willing to help anyone in need; |
| 19 | | and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Bill Nicholson was preceded in death his brother, |
| 21 | | Robert Nicholson, and his son-in-law, Jack Malmstrom; and |
